It would have been a mature and edgy game if it were released back in the late 90s or early 2000s, but gaming and FPS games have come a long way since then. The game play mechanics feel old and out dated, the setting and theme is something out of an 80's action movie which again feels old and out dated. FPS games have moved well beyond the scope of Duke Nukem Forever. The problem is this didn't come out in the late 90's/ early 2000's. If you review it with that in mind the game is a pretty fun nostalgic look back at FPS games from the late 90's / early 2000's. They were blockier, tighter, the controls were different, the engines were different. Back when it was first supposed to come out FPS games were a little different to what they are now. You need to remember Duke Nukem is a game from another time.
